This case study illustrates the complete machining process of a precision piston part manufactured by Sinbo Precision for a high end client The piston is designed for high performance hydraulic systems requiring exceptional cylindricity surface finish and dimensional consistency Through advanced five axis machining centers stringent process control and full process quality inspection we successfully delivered batch products that fully met the rigorous standards
The core challenges of this project were the precision grinding of the piston outer diameter and the efficient accurate machining of the ring grooves We selected 42CrMo high strength alloy steel as the blank The process began with precision turning using a CNC lathe to initially form the OD ID and faces leaving uniform allowance for subsequent finishing operations The part was then transferred to a five axis vertical machining center Leveraging its high dynamic precision and stability all ring grooves pin holes and face features were milled accurately in a single setup ensuring极高的 positional accuracy between all features The most critical operation fine grinding of the OD was completed on a precision CNC grinder An in process measuring system provided real time feedback for compensation ultimately achieving a surface roughness of Ra0 2 or better and dimensional tolerances within micrometers Non destructive testing and dimensional inspections were interspersed throughout the entire process guaranteeing defect free delivery
